hi, i'm the Amazing DJ for the animarathon X rave.
my name is DJ4x. i've been DJing for almost 7 years at clubs and cons in toledo & southeast michigan. i spun at animarathon 2011 to a crowd of over 200 people. and this year...man, this year is going to be bigger than ever. we'll be bringing reactive lighting and VJ software to the party this year to make this a multimedia experience you won't forget. i'll be doing a tag-team set with my man DJBLR, fellow member of our DJ crew 7 deadly spins. this will of course all be filled top to bottom with heavy beats and groovy tunes you won't forget.
animarathon X is looking to be the biggest ANO convention in history. 7DS is hoping to contribute to that. i'll be adding more details here as they become relevant.

@MrClockwork: i primarily specialize in progressive and electro house. my right-hand man is more into UK hardstyle and happy hardcore.

Yeah, what's your thing against Skrillex? I'll admit I just started listening to Skrillex like a few months ago... but still.
Also!
I plan on starting my own techno and dubstep songs and remixes! The reason I said that is because I'm wondering..
Do you have any advice for me, or suggestions?
What should I start off with in the case of programs? I've heard wobbler is good, but still..
Also, is there any specific keyboard or synthesizer that you prefer? I'm trying to keep it under $500.

all EDM tries to accomplish something. dubstep isn't just about pounding and repetitive techno beats. it tries to build energy doing something that most electronic music doesn't: modulated basslines. it puts the bass right there at the forefrunt, and backs it with massive rhythms and layers of pads and sounds to build tension and atmosphere. good dubstep artists try to create a sense of tension and urgency in their songs to bely the relatively slow rhythm. the best dubstep production rewards repeated listens AND dancefloor drops by excelling in both of these environments.
skrillex does none of these things.

please no gangnam style or remixes of it, that song is getting way too mainstream, i would love to hear some K-pop such as 2NE1, T-ara, 4minute, and super junior
